The Secretary of State makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 85(3A)(b) of the Education Act 2002( 1 ).

Citation and commencement

1. This Order may be cited as the Education (National Curriculum) (Science at Key Stage 4) (England) (Amendment) Order 2016 and comes into force on 1st September 2016.

Amendment to the Education (National Curriculum) (Science at Key Stage 4) (England) Order 2007

2. In article 2(a) of the Education (National Curriculum) (Science at Key Stage 4) (England) Order 2007( 2 ) (specification of sets of qualifications), for “Science GCSE and Additional Science GCSE” substitute “Combined Science GCSE”.

2002 c.32 . Section 85(3A) was inserted by section 74(4)(b) of the Education and Inspections Act 2006, c.40 . Section 74(4) was commenced by article 5(k) of S.I. 2007/935 and has effect until section 74(1) is commenced, which subsection will substitute a new section 85 and 85A of the Education Act 2002. An order under section 85(3A) of the 2002 Act has effect, , following commencement of the new section 85, as if made under subsection (4) of the new section 85, by virtue of section 74(5) of the Education and Inspections Act 2006.
