The Secretary of State makes the following Order in exercise of the power conferred by section 1(7) of the Office of Communications Act 2002( 1 ):

Citation and commencement I1

1. This Order may be cited as the Office of Communications (Membership) (Modification) Order 2016 and comes into force on 18th August 2016.

Modification of maximum number of members I2

2. In section 1(2) of the Office of Communications Act 2002 for “six” substitute “twelve”( 2 ).

Revocations I3

3. The following Orders are revoked—

(a) the Office of Communications (Membership) Order 2002;

(b) the Office of Communications (Membership) Order 2005.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order increases the maximum membership of the Office of Communications from ten to twelve.

Regulation 2 amends section 1(2) of the Office of Communications Act 2002 to increase the maximum number stated in that section to twelve.

Regulation 3 revokes the two previous Orders which modified the maximum number of members.

A full impact assessment has not been produced for these Regulations as no impact on the private, voluntary or public sectors is foreseen.
