Citation, commencement and interpretation
1. —(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Pensions Increase (Modification) Regulations 2017 and come into force on 9th April 2017.
(2) In these Regulations, “the 1975 Act” means the Social Security Pensions Act 1975( 3 ).
Pension increases: annual rate and lump sums
2. —(1) The provisions of section 59 of the 1975 Act( 4 ) shall apply in relation to an official pension subject to the following modification.
(2) “Base period”, in relation to the direction mentioned in section 59(1) of the 1975 Act and coming into force on 10th April 2017( 5 ), means the period beginning on 11th April 2016 and ending with 10th April 2017.

1971 c.56 ; section 5(3) was amended by the Social Security Pensions Act 1975 (c.60) , Schedule 4, paragraph 18, S.I. 1974/1264 and S.I. 1979/1451 .
By virtue of article 2(1)(c) and (d) of the Transfer of Functions (Minister for the Civil Service and Treasury) Order 1981 ( S.I. 1981/1670 ).
By virtue of section 59(7), as amended by the Social Security Act 1979 (c.18) , Schedule 4, paragraph 20, section 59 and section 59A of the 1975 Act have effect as if section 59 and section 59A were contained in Part 1 of the Pensions (Increase) Act 1971.
