The Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield Combined Authority (Election of Mayor) (Amendment) Order 2017

Coming into force in accordance with article 1

The Secretary of State makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by paragraph 3 of Schedule 5B to, the Local Democracy, Economic Development and Construction Act 2009( 1 ).

A draft of this instrument has been laid before, and approved by a resolution of, each House of Parliament pursuant to section 117(2) of the Local Democracy, Economic Development and Construction Act 2009( 2 ).

Accordingly, the Secretary of State makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement

1. This Order may be cited as the Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield Combined Authority (Election of Mayor) (Amendment) Order 2017 and shall come into force on the day after the day on which it is made.

Election of a mayor

2. —(1) Article 3 of the Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield Combined Authority (Election of Mayor) Order 2016( 3 ) is amended as set out in the following paragraphs.

(2) In paragraph (2), for “4th May 2017” there is substituted “3rd May 2018”.

(3) Paragraph (3)(a) is omitted and the “and” immediately following it.
