The General Optical Council has made the General Optical Council (Committee Constitution) (Amendment) Rules 2019, which are set out in the Schedule to this Order, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 5D(5)(a) of the Opticians Act 1989( 1 ).
By virtue of section 34(1) of the Opticians Act 1989( 2 ), such Rules shall not come into force until approved by order of the Privy Council.
Citation and commencement
1. This Order may be cited as the General Optical Council (Committee Constitution) (Amendment) Rules Order of Council 2019 and comes into force on 1st September 2019.

2. Their Lordships, having taken the Rules set out in the Schedule into consideration, are pleased to, and do approve them.

SCHEDULE The General Optical Council (Committee Constitution) (Amendment) Rules 2019
The General Optical Council makes the following Rules in exercise of its powers under section 5D(5)(a) of the Opticians Act 1989.
Citation and Commencement
1. These Rules may be cited as the General Optical Council (Committee Constitution) (Amendment) Rules 2019 and come into force on 1st September 2019.
Amendment to the General Optical Council (Committee Constitution) Rules 2005
2. In the General Optical Council (Committee Constitution) Rules 2005( 3 ), in rule 27 (hearings panel), omit paragraph (a).
