The Financial Assistance for Environmental Purposes (England) Order 2020

The Secretary of State makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 153(4) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990( 1 ).

Citation, commencement, extent and application

1. This Orderβ€”

(a) may be cited as the Financial Assistance for Environmental Purposes (England) Order 2020;

(b) comes into force on 30th March 2020; and

(c) extends to England and Wales.

Amendment of section 153(1) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990

2. In section 153(1) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990( 2 ) (purposes for which financial assistance may be given), after paragraph (nn) insertβ€”

β€œ (oo) any scheme, programme or organisation for the purpose of preventing or reducing waste or litter in England, or of promoting resource efficiency in England;

(pp) any scheme, programme or organisation for the storage, transport, treatment or disposal of any material or product in England for the purpose of preventing or reducing environmental damage. ” .
