The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 1A(5) of the Fatal Accidents Act 1976( 1 ), makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement

1. —(1) This Order may be cited as the Damages for Bereavement (Variation of Sum) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and comes into force on 1st May 2020.

(2) This Order applies only to causes of action which accrue on or after 1st May 2020.

Variation of sum

2. In section 1A(3) of the Fatal Accidents Act 1976, for “£12,980” substitute “£15,120”.
