The Antique Firearms (Amendment) Regulations 2021

The Secretary of State makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 58(2B)(b) and (2F) of the Firearms Act 1968( 1 ).

In accordance with section 58(2G) of that Act, a draft of these Regulations has been laid before and approved by a resolution of each House of Parliament.

Citation, commencement and extent

1. —(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Antique Firearms (Amendment) Regulations 2021 and come into force on the twenty-first day after the day on which they are made.

(2) These Regulations extend to England and Wales and Scotland.

Amendment of the Antique Firearms Regulations 2021

2. —(1)The Schedule to the Antique Firearms Regulations 2021( 2 ) is amended as follows.

(2) In paragraph 1 (centre-fire cartridges (imperial): breech-loading longarm firearms)—

(a) in each of the three places where it occurs, for “Caliber” substitute “Calibre” ;

(b) in the entry relating to the .30/30 Wesson cartridge, for “.30/30” substitute “.30-30” ;

(c) in the entry relating to the .360 - 2 7/16 inch Black Powder cartridge, after “Black Powder” insert “Express” ;

(d) in the entry relating to the .45 Gardner, Gatling & Nordenfeldt cartridge, for “Nordenfeldt” substitute “Nordenfelt” ;

(e) in the entry relating to the .450 No.1, Black Powder Express, Case Length: 1 1/2 inch cartridge, omit “No.1,”;

(f) in the entry relating to the .50/110 Winchester (Winchester Express) cartridge, for “.50/110” substitute “.50-110” ;

(g) in the entry relating to the 1 inch Nordenfeldt-Palmcranz cartridge, for “Nordenfeldt-Palmcranz” substitute “Nordenfelt-Palmcranz” .

(3) In paragraph 2 (centre-fire cartridges (metric): breech-loading longarm firearms)—

(a) in the entry relating to the 6 x 58 mm Gewehrprufungkommission M.1897 cartridge, for “Gewehrprufungkommission” substitute “Gewehrprufungskommission” ;

(b) in the entry relating to the 11.15 x 36 R Fruhwirth cartridge, after “36” insert “mm” ;

(c) in the entry relating to the 13.2 x 32 R cartridge, after “32” insert “mm” .

(4) In paragraph 4 (centre-fire cartridges (metric): breech-loading pistols)—

(a) in the entry relating to the 5.43 x 26.8 mm Revolver cartridge, after “mm” insert “R” ;

(b) in the entry relating to the 7 x 20 mm Target Pistol, German (46) cartridge, omit “(46)”;

(c) in the entry relating to the 7 x 22 mm Target Pistol, German (47) cartridge, omit “(47)”;

(d) in the entry relating to the 7 x 25 mm Target Pistol, German (48) cartridge, omit “(48)”;

(e) in the entry relating to the 7 x 30 mm Target Pistol, German (49) cartridge, omit “(49)”;

(f) in the entry relating to the 16.5 x 18 R mm Beringer cartridge, for “18 R mm” substitute “18 mm R” .

(5) In paragraph 5 (cartridges for vintage rifles, punt guns or shot guns), for the words from “8 bore” to the end of the paragraph, substitute “bores greater than 10.” .
