The Secretary of State makes these Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by Articles 10(1) and 11a(3) of Council Regulation (EC) No 2173/2005 on the establishment of a FLEGT licensing scheme for imports of timber into the European Community( 1 ).
Citation, commencement and extent
1. These Regulations may be cited as the FLEGT Licensing Scheme (Council Regulation (EC) No 2173/2005 ) (Amendment) Regulations 2021 and come into force on the day after the day on which they are laid.
2. These Regulations extend to Great Britain only.
Amendment of Council Regulation (EC) No 2173/2005
3. —(1) Council Regulation (EC) No 2173/2005 on the establishment of a FLEGT licensing scheme for imports of timber into the European Community( 2 ) is amended as follows.
(2) In Article 1(3), after “partner countries”, insert “listed in Annex 1”.
(3) In Article 2—
(a) in paragraph 2, after “Agreement” insert “, as listed in Annex 1”;
(b) in paragraph 4, after “scheme” insert “, as listed in Annex 1”.
(4) Before Annex 2 insert—
