The Automated and Electric Vehicles Act 2018 (Commencement No. 1) Regulations 2021

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 21(1) of the Automated and Electric Vehicles Act 2018( 1 ), makes the following Regulations.

Citation

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Automated and Electric Vehicles Act 2018 (Commencement No. 1) Regulations 2021.

Extent

2. —(1) Subject to paragraphs (2) and (3), these Regulations extend to England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

(2) Paragraphs (a) and (c) of regulation 3 extend to England and Wales and Scotland.

(3) Paragraph (d) of regulation 3 has the same extent as the provisions being amended by the Schedule.

Provisions coming into force on 21st April 2021

3. The following provisions of the Automated and Electric Vehicles Act 2018 come into force on 21st April 2021—

(a) sections 1 to 8 (automated vehicles: liability of insurers etc);

(b) sections 9, 10 and 13 to 19 (electric vehicles: charging);

(c) section 20(1) (minor and consequential amendments); and

(d) the Schedule (minor and consequential amendments).
