The Secretary of State makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 8(4) and (7) of the Energy Prices Act 2022( 1 ).
Citation, commencement, extent and interpretation
1. —(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Energy Prices (Domestic Supply) (Northern Ireland) Regulations 2022 and come into force on 1st November 2022.
(2) These Regulations extend to Northern Ireland only.
(3) In these Regulations, “electricity supply licence” and “gas supply licence” have the meanings given in section 8(3) and (6) of the Energy Prices Act 2022 respectively.
Definition of “NI domestic electricity supply”
2. “ NI domestic electricity supply ” means the supply of electricity under an electricity supply licence—
(a) to premises at which the supply is taken wholly or mainly for a domestic purpose, or
(b) to premises not within sub-paragraph (a) but for which the tariff applied is one that the supplier also applies to supply within sub-paragraph (a).
Definition of “NI domestic gas supply”
3. “ NI domestic gas supply ” means the supply of gas, under a gas supply licence, to premises at which the supply is taken wholly or mainly for a domestic purpose.
