The Secretary of State makes these Regulations in exercise of the power conferred by section 2(1) of the Northern Ireland (Executive Formation etc) Act 2022( 1 ).

Citation, commencement and extent

1. —(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Northern Ireland (Extension of Period for Making Ministerial Appointments) Regulations 2022.

(2) They come into force on 8th December 2022.

(3) They extend to England and Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.

Amendment of section 1(1) of the Northern Ireland (Executive Formation etc) Act 2022

2. —(1) The Northern Ireland (Executive Formation etc) Act 2022 is amended as follows.

(2) In section 1(1), for “8 December 2022” substitute “19 January 2023” .
