The Environment Act 2021 (Commencement No. 3) Regulations 2022

at 12.47 p.m. on 9th May 2022
The Secretary of State makes the following Regulations in exercise of the power conferred by section 147(3) of the Environment Act 2021( 1 ).
Citation and interpretation
1. β(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Environment Act 2021 (Commencement No. 3) Regulations 2022.
(2) In these Regulations β the Act β means the Environment Act 2021.
Provisions coming into force on 10th May 2022
2. The following provisions of the Act come into force on 10th May 2022β
(a) section 17 (policy statement on environmental principles);
(b) section 18 (policy statement on environmental principles: process);
(c) section 19(5) and (6) (policy statement on environmental principles: effect);
(d) section 20 (statements about Bills containing new environmental law);
(e) section 85 (Authorityβs power to require information) so far as relating to undertakers whose areas are wholly or mainly in England and licensees using the systems of such undertakers;
(f) section 87 (electronic service of documents) so far as relating to undertakers whose areas are wholly or mainly in England and licensees using the systems of such undertakers.
Provisions coming into force on 30th September 2022
3. The following provisions of the Act come into force on 30th September 2022β
(a) section 109 (species conservation strategies);
(b) section 111(wildlife conservation: licences);
(c) section 116 (use of forest risk commodities in commercial activity), for the purpose of making regulations;
(d) Schedule 17 (use of forest risk commodities in commercial activity), for the purpose of making regulations.
