The Leasehold Reform (Ground Rent) Act 2022 (Commencement) Regulations 2022

The Secretary of State makes these Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 25(2) and (3) of the Leasehold Reform (Ground Rent) Act 2022( 1 ).

Citation and extent

1. β€”(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Leasehold Reform (Ground Rent) Act 2022 (Commencement) Regulations 2022.

(2) These Regulations extend to England and Wales.

Interpretation

2. In these Regulations β€œ the Act ” means the Leasehold Reform (Ground Rent) Act 2022.

Provision coming into force on 30th June 2022 (leases other than leases of retirement homes)

3. Subject to regulation 4, sections 1 to 19 of, and the Schedule to, the Act come into force on 30th June 2022 (insofar as not already in force).

Provision coming into force on 1st April 2023 (leases of retirement homes)

4. Sections 1 to 19 of, and the Schedule to, the Act come into force for the purposes of leases of retirement homes( 2 ) on 1st April 2023.
