The Domestic Abuse Act 2021 (Commencement No. 5 and Transitional Provision) Regulations 2022

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 86(1) and 90(6) of the Domestic Abuse Act 2021( 1 ), makes the following Regulations.

Citation, interpretation and extent

1. —(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Domestic Abuse Act 2021 (Commencement No. 5 and Transitional Provision) Regulations 2022.

(2) In these Regulations a reference to a section or Schedule by number alone means the section or Schedule so numbered in the Domestic Abuse Act 2021.

(3) These Regulations extend to England and Wales.

Commencement of provisions on 21st July 2022

2. The following provisions come into force on 21st July 2022—

(a) section 65 (prohibition of cross-examination in person in family proceedings);

(b) section 66 (prohibition of cross-examination in person in civil proceedings).

Transitional provision

3. Sections 65 and 66 do not apply in relation to proceedings which were started before 21st July 2022.
