The Environment Act 2021 (Commencement No. 6) Regulations 2023

The Secretary of State makes the following Regulations in exercise of the power conferred by section 147(3) of the Environment Act 2021( 1 ).

Citation and interpretation

1. —(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Environment Act 2021 (Commencement No. 6) Regulations 2023.

(2) In these Regulations “ the Act ” means the Environment Act 2021 .

Provisions coming into force on 1st April 2023

2. The following provisions of the Act come into force on 1st April 2023—

(a) section 68 (littering enforcement), so far as relating to England;

(b) in section 69 (fixed penalty notices), subsections (2) and (4) and subsection (1) so far as relating to those subsections.

Provision coming into force on 1st November 2023

3. Section 19 of the Act (policy statement on environmental principles: effect) comes into force on 1st November 2023, insofar as it is not already in force.
