The Animal Welfare (Sentience) Act 2022 (Commencement) Regulations 2023

The Secretary of State makes these Regulations in exercise of the power conferred by section 6(2) of the Animal Welfare (Sentience) Act 2022( 1 ).

Citation and extent

1. —(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Animal Welfare (Sentience) Act 2022 (Commencement) Regulations 2023.

(2) These Regulations extend to England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Provisions coming into force on 22nd May 2023

2. Sections 1 to 5 of the Animal Welfare (Sentience) Act 2022 come into force on 22nd May 2023.
