The Public Order Act 2023 (Commencement No. 1) (England and Wales) Regulations 2023

The Secretary of State makes these Regulations in exercise of the power conferred by section 35(5) of the Public Order Act 2023( 1 ).

Citation and extent

1. —(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Public Order Act 2023 (Commencement No. 1) (England and Wales) Regulations 2023.

(2) These Regulations extend to England and Wales only.

Commencement

2. The following provisions of the Public Order Act 2023 come into force on 2nd July 2023—

(a) section 3 (offence of causing serious disruption by tunnelling);

(b) section 4 (offence of causing serious disruption by being present in a tunnel);

(c) section 5 (offence of being equipped for tunnelling etc);

(d) section 6 (obstruction etc of major transport works);

(e) section 17 (exercise of police powers in relation to journalists etc).
