The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred by Article 4(1) of Regulation (EC) 2160/2003 on the control of salmonella and other specified food-borne zoonotic agents( 1 ), makes the following Regulations.

In accordance with the requirements of Article 2A(2) of that Regulation, the Secretary of State has obtained the consent of the Scottish Ministers and the Welsh Ministers.

Citation, commencement and extent

1. —(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Validating Alternative Methods for Salmonella Typing (Amendment) Regulations 2023 and come into force on 4th August 2023.

(2) These Regulations extend to England and Wales, and Scotland.

Amendment to Commission Regulation (EU) No 1190/2012 concerning a Union target for the reduction of Salmonella Enteritidis and Salmonella Typhimurium in flocks of turkeys

2. —(1) Commission concerning a Union target for the reduction of Regulation (EU) No 1190/2012 Salmonella Enteritidis and Salmonella Typhimurium in flocks of turkeys( 2 ) is amended as follows.

(2) In the Annex, in point 3.4 (alternative methods), for the words from “ISO 16140-2” to the end substitute “EN ISO 16140-2 (for alternative detection methods) or EN ISO 16140-6 (for validation of the confirmation or typing procedure of the typing method)” .

Amendment to Commission Regulation (EU) No 517/2011 implementing Regulation (EC) No 2160/2003 of the European Parliament and of the Council as regards a Union target for the reduction of the prevalence of certain Salmonella serotypes in laying hens of Gallus gallus

3. —(1) Commission implementing Regulation Regulation (EU) No 517/2011 (EC) No 2160/2003 of the European Parliament and of the Council as regards a Union target for the reduction of the prevalence of certain Salmonella serotypes in laying hens of Gallus gallus ( 3 ) is amended as follows.

(2) In the Annex, in point 3.4 (alternative methods), for the words from “ISO 16140-2” to the end substitute “EN ISO 16140-2 (for alternative detection methods) or EN ISO 16140-6 (for validation of the confirmation or typing procedure of the typing method)” .

Amendment to Commission Regulation (EU) No 200/2012 concerning a Union target for the reduction of Salmonella enteritidis and Salmonella typhimurium in flocks of broilers

4. —(1) Commission concerning a Union target for the reduction of Regulation (EU) No 200/2012 Salmonella enteritidis and Salmonella typhimurium in flocks of broilers( 4 ) is amended as follows.

(2) In the Annex, in point 3.4 (alternative methods), for the words from “ISO 16140-2” to the end substitute “EN ISO 16140-2 (for alternative detection methods) or EN ISO 16140-6 (for validation of the confirmation or typing procedure of the typing method)” .

Amendment to Commission Regulation (EU) No 200/2010 implementing Regulation (EC) No 2160/2003 of the European Parliament and of the Council as regards a Union target for the reduction of the prevalence of Salmonella serotypes in adult breeding flocks of Gallus gallus

5. —(1) Commission implementing Regulation Regulation (EU) No 200/2010 (EC) No 2160/2003 of the European Parliament and of the Council as regards a Union target for the reduction of the prevalence of Salmonella serotypes in adult breeding flocks of Gallus gallus ( 5 ) is amended as follows.

(2) In the Annex, in point 3.4 (alternative methods), for the words from “ISO 16140-2” to the end substitute “EN ISO 16140-2 (for alternative detection methods) or EN ISO 16140-6 (for validation of the confirmation or typing procedure of the typing method)” .
