The Armed Forces Act 2016 (Commencement No. 5) Regulations 2024

The Secretary of State makes these Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 19(1) of the Armed Forces Act 2016( 1 ).

Citation, interpretation and extent

1. —(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Armed Forces Act 2016 (Commencement No. 5) Regulations 2024.

(2) In these Regulations, “ the Act ” means the Armed Forces Act 2016 .

(3) These Regulations extend to England and Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man and the British overseas territories (except Gibraltar).

Commencement of sections 7 to 12 of the Act

2. —(1) Sections 7 (immunity from prosecution), 8 (undertakings as to use of evidence), 9 (reduction in sentence) and 12 (supplementary provision) of the Act come into force on the day after the day on which these Regulations are made.

(2) Sections 10 (review of sentence following offer of assistance) and 11 (review of sentence following failure to assist) of the Act come into force on the day after the day on which these Regulations are made, in so far as they are not already in force.
