The Secretary of State makes these Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by Articles 18(3) and 19(5) of Council Regulation (EC) No 338/97 of 9 December 1996 on the protection of species of wild fauna and flora by regulating trade therein( 1 ).

Citation, commencement and extent

1. —(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (Council Regulation (EC) No 338/97 ) (Amendment) Regulations 2024 and come into force on 25th November 2024.

(2) These Regulations extend to England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Amendments to the Annex to Council Regulation (EC) No 338/97

2. The Annex to Council Regulation (EC) No 338/97 of 9 December 1996 on the protection of species of wild fauna and flora by regulating trade therein( 2 ) is amended in accordance with regulations 3 and 4.

Amendments relating to FAUNA in Annex C

3. —(1) Under the heading “SAURIA”, in the text of the rows relating to Gekkonidae, immediately above the row relating to “ Carphodactylus laevis (III Australia)” insert—

“ Ailuronyx spp . (III Seychelles) Seychelles bronze geckoes ”

(2) Under the heading “SERPENTES”, in the text of the rows relating to Viperidae, immediately below the row relating to “ Crotalus durissus unicolor ” insert—

“ Daboia palaestinae (III Israel)

Palestinian viper

(3) Under the heading relating to LEPIDOPTERA, in the text of the rows relating to Papilionidae, immediately below the row relating to “ Papilio neumoegeni” insert—

“ Papilio phorbanta (III European Union) Small Réunion swallowtail

Amendments relating to FLORA in Annexes A and C

4. —(1) Under the heading “APOCYNACEAE”, immediately below the row relating to “ Pachypodium decaryi (I)” insert—

“Pachypodium windsorii (I)”

(2) Under the heading “COMPOSITAE (ASTERACEAE)”—

(a) omit the row relating to “ Crassothonna cacalioides (III South Africa)”;

(b) immediately below the row relating to “ Othonna armiana (III) South Africa” insert—

“Othonna cacalioides (III) South Africa”
