The Secretary of State makes these Regulations in exercise of the power conferred by section 8(1)(a) of the National Security Act 2023( 1 ).

The Secretary of State, having regard to the matters listed in section 8(3) of that Act, reasonably considers it necessary to designate the land and building specified in these Regulations as a prohibited place in order to protect the safety or interests of the United Kingdom.

Citation, commencement and extent

1. —(1) These Regulations may be cited as the National Security Act 2023 (Prohibited Place) Regulations 2024 and come into force 21 days after the date on which they are laid.

(2) These Regulations extend to England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Prohibited Place

2. The Counter Terrorism Operations Centre, Empress State Building, Empress Approach, Lillie Road, West Brompton, SW6 1TR is designated as a prohibited place.
