Northern Ireland (Executive Formation) Act 2024

2024 CHAPTER 2

An Act to make provision to extend the period following the Northern Ireland Assembly election of 5 May 2022 during which Ministers may be appointed.

B e it enacted by the King’s most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1 Extension of period for making Ministerial appointments I1

In section 1(1) of the Northern Ireland (Executive Formation etc) Act 2022 , for “18 January 2024” substitute “8 February 2024” .

2 Extent, commencement and short title I2

(1) This Act extends to England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

(2) This Act comes into force on the day on which it is passed.

(3) This Act may be cited as the Northern Ireland (Executive Formation) Act 2024.
