Lords Spiritual (Women) Act 2015 (Extension) Act 2025

2025 CHAPTER 1

An Act to extend the period within which vacancies among the Lords Spiritual are to be filled by bishops who are women.

[16th January 2025]

B e it enacted by the King’s most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1 Amendment of Lords Spiritual (Women) Act 2015 I1

In section 1 of the Lords Spiritual (Women) Act 2015 (vacancies among the Lords Spiritual), in subsection (1)(a), for “in the 10 years beginning with the day on which this Act comes into force” substitute “before 18 May 2030” .

2 Extent, commencement and short title I2

(1) This Act extends to England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

(2) This Act comes into force on the day on which it is passed.

(3) This Act may be cited as the Lords Spiritual (Women) Act 2015 (Extension) Act 2025.
