The General Synod, in exercise of the power under section 7 of the Synodical Government Measure 1969(1), resolves to amend the Church Representation Rules(2) as follows.

In accordance with section 7 of that Measure, the General Synod has passed this Resolution with a majority in each House of not less than two-thirds of those present and voting.

Citation and commencement

1.—(1) This Resolution may be cited as the Church Representation Rules (Amendment) Resolution 2026.

(2) This Resolution comes into force on the day after the day on which it is laid before Parliament.

Parochial church council: business by correspondence

2. In section B of Part 9 of the Church Representation Rules (model rules on parochial church councils), in Rule M29 (business by correspondence), for paragraph (2) substitute—

(2) If, within the period specified by the chair of the PCC beginning with the date on which the proposals are sent, at least one-third of the members of the PCC approve in writing and no member objects in writing, the proposals are to be treated at the end of that period as if they had been approved at a duly convened meeting..
