The Church of England Pensions (Amendment) Regulations 2026

The General Synod approves these Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 53 and 54 of the Church of England Pensions Measure 2018(1)

In accordance with section 53 (7) of that Measure, these Regulations have been prepared by the Church of England Pensions Board and, with the agreement of the Church Commissioners, are laid before the General Synod for approval.

Citation and commencement

1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Church of England Pensions (Amendment) Regulations 2026.

(2) These Regulations come into force on 1st April 2026.

Past service scheme: amount of full basic pension

2. In Part 1 of Schedule 2 to the Church of England Pensions Measure 2018 (past service scheme: pensions and lump sum payments at retirement), in paragraph 2, for sub-paragraph (6) substitute—

(6) Full basic pension” means—

(a)if payment of the pension begins on or after 1st April 2026, the national minimum stipend for the year in which payment begins, or

(b)if payment of the pension began before that date, the national minimum stipend for the year preceding that in which payment began..
