The Victims and Prisoners Act 2024 (Commencement No. 10) and Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 (Commencement No. 8) Regulations 2026

The Secretary of State makes these Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 81(2) of the Victims and Prisoners Act 2024(1) and section 142(1) of the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025(2).

Citation, extent and interpretation

1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Victims and Prisoners Act 2024 (Commencement No. 10) and Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 (Commencement No. 8) Regulations 2026.

(2) These Regulations extend to England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

(3) In these Regulations—

the 2024 Act ” means the Victims and Prisoners Act 2024 ;

the 2025 Act ” means the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 .

Provision of the 2024 Act coming into force on 31st March 2026

2. Section 31 (right to erasure of personal data in the UK) of the 2024 Act comes into force on 31st March 2026.

Provision of the 2025 Act coming into force on 31st March 2026

3. Paragraph 32 of Schedule 11 (Victims and Prisoners Act 2024) to the 2025 Act comes into force on 31st March 2026.
