The Secretary of State makes these Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 5(1)(p) and (6) and 189(1), (4) and (5) of the Social Security Administration Act 1992(1).

In accordance with section 173(1)(b) of the Social Security Administration Act 1992, the Social Security Advisory Committee has agreed that the proposals in respect of these Regulations should not be referred to it.

Citation, commencement and extent

1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Universal Credit, Personal Independence Payment, Jobseeker’s Allowance and Employment and Support Allowance (Claims and Payments) (Amendment) Regulations 2026 and come into force on 30th April 2026.

(2) These Regulations extend to England and Wales and Scotland.

Amendment to the Universal Credit, Personal Independence Payment, Jobseeker’s Allowance and Employment and Support Allowance (Claims and Payments) Regulations 2013

2. In Schedule 6 to the Universal Credit, Personal Independence Payment, Jobseeker’s Allowance and Employment and Support Allowance (Claims and Payments) Regulations 2013 (deductions from benefit and direct payment to third parties)(2)—

(a)in paragraph 3(2) omit paragraph (e);

(b)in paragraph 5(2)—

(i)before paragraph (a) insert—

(za)Schedule 7 (deductions from benefit in respect of child support maintenance and payment to persons with care) to these Regulations;;

(ii)omit paragraphs (g) and (h); and

(c)in paragraph 5(4) for “housing costs” substitute “deductions under Schedule 7 (deductions from benefit in respect of child support maintenance and payment to persons with care) to these Regulations”.
