The Secretary of State makes this Order in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 37(5) and 90(3)(a) of the Climate Change Act 2008(1).

Citation, commencement and extent

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Response to the Committee on Climate Change Report (Extension of Period) Order 2026.

(2) This Order comes into force on 14th October 2026.

(3) This Order extends to the United Kingdom.

Extension of the period for the response to the Committee on Climate Change’s 2026 report

2.—(1) The Secretary of State’s response under section 37 of the Climate Change Act 2008 to the Committee’s(2) 2026 report must be laid before Parliament not later than 17th December 2026.

(2) In this article, the “ Committee’s 2026 report ” means the report of the Committee under section 36 of the Climate Change Act 2008 laid before Parliament on 24th June 2026( 3 ).
