The Royal Parks (Establishment of Eligibility for Transfer and Termination of Employment) Regulations 2005

These Regulations impose requirements on persons serving as Royal Parks constables for the
purposes of establishing whether they are eligible to be employed by the Metropolitan Police Authority or to
serve as Metropolitan Police constables when the Royal Parks Constabulary is abolished under section 161 of
the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act 2005. The Secretary of State has power to terminate the Crown
employment of any Royal Parks constables who fail to comply with any of these requirements, and the
Regulations provide that constables shall not be eligible for compensation for early retirement or severance
under the Civil Service Compensation Scheme if their Crown employment is terminated in this way. The
Regulations also provide that constables who are eligible to serve as Metropolitan Police constables who do
not wish to transfer to the Metropolitan Police shall not be eligible for compensation if their Crown
employment is terminated by a transfer scheme.
