DANGEROUS DRUGS

The Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 (Modification) Order 2003

The Queenโ€™s Most Excellent Majesty in Council

Whereas a draft of this Order has been laid before Parliament on the recommendation of the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs and has been approved by a resolution of each House of Parliament;

Now, therefore, Her Majesty, in pursuance of section 2(2) of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971( 1 ), is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:โ€”

1. This Order shall be cited as the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 (Modification) Order 2003 and shall come into force on 1st July 2003.

2. โ€”(1)Schedule 2 to the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971( 2 ) (which specifies the drugs which are subject to control under that Act) shall be amended as follows:

(2) In paragraph 1(a) of Part I of that Schedule there shall be insertedโ€”

(a) after โ€œDihydrocodeinone O-carboxymethyloximeโ€, โ€œDihydroetorphineโ€; and

(b) after โ€œRacemorphanโ€, โ€œRemifentanil.โ€.

(3) In paragraph 1(a) of Part III of that Schedule, there shall be insertedโ€”

(a) after โ€œHaloxazolamโ€, โ€œ4-Hydroxy-n-butyric acidโ€; and

(b) after โ€œN-Ethylamphetamineโ€, โ€œZolpidemโ€.

(4) In paragraph 1(b) of Part III of that Schedule, there shall be insertedโ€”

(a) before โ€œAtamestaneโ€, โ€œ4-Androstene-3, 17-dioneโ€ and โ€œ5-Androstene-3, 17-diolโ€; and

(b) after โ€œNandroloneโ€, โ€œ19-Nor-4-Androstene-3, 17-dioneโ€; and โ€œ19-Nor-5-Androstene-3, 17-diolโ€.
