The Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (Commencement No. 11) Order 2005

The Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 70(3) of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995( 1 ), hereby makes the following Order:

Citation and interpretation

1. β€”(1) This Order may be cited as the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (Commencement No. 11) Order 2005.

(2) In this Order, β€œrelevant document” has the meaning given to it in section 49(1) of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995.

Commencement

2. β€”(1)Section 49 of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (forgery and false statements), in so far as it relates to the relevant documents referred to in paragraph (2), shall come into force on 6th April 2005.

(2) Those relevant documents areβ€”

(a) a certificate of exemption issued under section 37 or 37A( 2 );

(b) a notice of a kind mentioned in section 37(8)(b) or 37A(8)(b);

(c) an accessibility certificate; and

(d) an approval certificate.

Section 37A was inserted into the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 by s. 1(1) of the Private Hire Vehicles (Carriage of Guide Dogs etc. ) Act 2002 (see S.I. 2003/3123 for date in force).
