The Secretary of State for Education and Skills makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 79E(2)(c) and 104(4) of, and paragraph 7 of Schedule 9A to, the Children Act 1989( 1 ):

Citation, commencement, application and interpretation

1. —(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Day Care and Child Minding (Registration Fees) (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2007 and come into force on 3rd September 2007.

(2) These Regulations apply only in relation to England.

(3) In these Regulations “the 2005 Regulations” means the Day Care and Child Minding (Registration Fees) (England) Regulations 2005 ( 2 ).

Amendment of the 2005 Regulations

2. —(1) The 2005 Regulations are amended as follows.

(2) In regulation 3 (applications for registration)

(a) for “£18”, in each place where it appears, substitute “£20”;

(b) for “£150” substitute “£155”.

(3) In regulation 4 (periodic fees)

(a) for “£14”, in each place where it appears, substitute “£15”;

(b) for “£120” substitute “£125”.

1989 c.41 . Section 79E was inserted by section 79(1) of the Care Standards Act 2000 (c.14) (the “2000 Act”) and subsection (2) was amended by paragraph 3(1) of Schedule 4 to the Children Act 2004 (c.31) . Schedule 9A was inserted by Schedule 3 to the 2000 Act. For the definition of “prescribed” see section 105(1) of the Children Act 1989 and for “regulations” see section 79B(7) thereof (inserted by section 79(1) of the 2000 Act).
