The Prisoners’ Earnings Act 1996 (Commencement) (England and Wales) Order 2011

The Secretary of State for Justice makes the following Order in exercise of the power conferred by section 5(2) of the Prisoners’ Earnings Act 1996( 1 ).

Citation and extent

1. —(1) This Order may be cited as the Prisoners’ Earnings Act 1996 (Commencement) (England and Wales) Order 2011.

(2) It extends to England and Wales only.

Appointed day

2. 26th September 2011 is the day appointed for the coming into force of the Prisoners’ Earnings Act 1996, except for section 4(3).

1996 c.33 . The power of the Secretary of State conferred by section 5(2) was transferred, in relation to Scotland, to the Scottish Ministers by virtue of section 53 of the Scotland Act 1998 (c.46) .
