The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the powers conferred by paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Coroners and Justice Act 2009( 1 ) and after consulting in accordance with that paragraph, makes the following Order.

Citation and commencement

1. This Order may be cited as the Coroners and Justice Act 2009 (Alteration of Coroner Areas) Order 2014 and comes into force on 1st January 2015.

Interpretation

2. In this Orderβ€”

β€œcoroner area” means a coroner area constituted by the Coroners and Justice Act 2009 (Coroner Areas and Assistant Coroners) Transitional Order 2013( 2 );

β€œnew coroner area” means the new coroner area resulting from the combining of the coroner areas as set out in Article 3 of this Order.

3. The coroner area of North and West Cumbria and the coroner area of South and East Cumbria are combined into the new coroner area of Cumbria.
