The National Curriculum (Exceptions for First, Second, Third and Fourth Key Stages) (England) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 2014

These Regulations are made in exercise of the powers conferred by section 91 of the Education Act 2002( 1 ).

In accordance with section 96( 2 )(2), (3) and (4) of that Act, the Secretary of State gave notice of the proposal to the bodies and persons mentioned in those subsections and gave them a reasonable opportunity of submitting evidence and representations as to the issues arising.

In accordance with section 96(5), the Secretary of State published a draft of the proposed regulations and the associated documents, and a summary of the views expressed.

In accordance with section 96(6), the Secretary of State allowed a period of not less than one month beginning with the publication of the draft of the proposed regulations for the submission of further evidence and representations as to the issues arising.

The Secretary of State now makes the following Regulations.

Citation and Commencement

1. These Regulations may be cited as the National Curriculum (Exceptions for First, Second, Third and Fourth Key Stages) (England) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 2014 and come into force on 1st September 2015.

Amendment to the National Curriculum (Exceptions for First, Second, Third and Fourth Key Stages) (England) Regulations 2013

2. After regulation 2(4) of the National Curriculum (Exceptions for First, Second, Third and Fourth Key Stages)(England) Regulations 2013( 3 ) insert—

(5) The programme of study specified in relation to science for the fourth key stage does not apply in relation to—

(a) any pupil during the school year 2015 to 2016; or

(b) any pupil in the final year of the fourth key stage during the school year 2016 to 2017. .
