The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the power conferred by paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Coroners and Justice Act 2009( 1 ), and after consulting in accordance with that paragraph, makes the following Order.

Citation and commencement

1. This Order may be cited as the Coroners and Justice Act 2009 (Alteration of Coroner Areas) Order 2016 and comes into force on 1st April 2016.

Interpretation

2. In this Order—

“coroner area” means a coroner area constituted—

(a)

where the coroner area was constituted by the Coroners and Justice Act 2009 (Alteration of Coroner Areas) Order 2013( 2 ), by that Order, or

(b)

in any other case, by the Coroners and Justice Act 2009 (Coroner Areas and Assistant Coroners) Transitional Order 2013( 3 );

“altered coroner area” means a new coroner area resulting from the combining of coroner areas as set out in the Schedule to this Order.

3. Coroner areas listed in the first column of the table in the Schedule to this Order are combined into the altered coroner area listed in the corresponding entry in the second column.
