The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the power conferred by section 176 of, and paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to, the Coroners and Justice Act 2009( 1 ), and after consulting in accordance with that paragraph, makes the following Order.

Citation and commencement

1. This Order may be cited as the Coroners and Justice Act 2009 (Alteration of Coroner Areas) Order 2018 and comes into force on 1st August 2018.

Interpretation

2. In this Order—

“coroner area” means a coroner area specified in the Coroners and Justice Act 2009 (Coroner Areas and Assistant Coroners) Transitional Order 2013 ( 2 ).

Altered coroner areas

3. —(1) The coroner areas in paragraph (2) are combined to create the coroner area of Teesside and Hartlepool.

(2) The coroner areas of—

(a) Teesside; and

(b) Hartlepool.
