The Asylum Support (Amendment) Regulations 2023

The Secretary of State makes these Regulations in exercise of the powers in section 95(12) of, and paragraphs 1 and 3(a) of Schedule 8 to, the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999( 1 ).

Citation, commencement and extent

1. —(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Asylum Support (Amendment) Regulations 2023.

(2) These Regulations come into force on 15th January 2024.

(3) These Regulations extend to England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Amendments of the Asylum Support Regulations 2000

2. —(1) The Asylum Support Regulations 2000( 2 ) are amended as follows.

(2) In regulation 10(2)( 3 ) (kind and levels of support for essential living needs), for “£40.85” substitute “£49.18” .

(3) In regulation 10A( 4 ) (additional support for pregnant women and children under 3)—

(a) in the heading, for “under 3” substitute “under 4” ;

(b) in paragraph (1)—

(i) for “under 3” substitute “under 4” in each place in which it occurs;

(ii) in the table—

(aa) in rows 1 and 3, for “£3.00” substitute “£5.25” ;

(bb) in row 2, for “£5.00” substitute “£9.50” .

Revocation of the Asylum Support (Amendment) Regulations 2022

3. The Asylum Support (Amendment) Regulations 2022( 5 ) are revoked.
