The Firearms (Variation of Fees) Order 2026

The Secretary of State makes this Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 43 of the Firearms Act 1968(1) and sections 11(4) and 17(9) of the Firearms (Amendment) Act 1988(2).

Citation, commencement and extent

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Firearms (Variation of Fees) Order 2026 and comes into force on 4th June 2026.

(2) This Order extends to England and Wales and Scotland.

Variation of fees for firearm and shot gun certificates

2. In section 32(1) of the Firearms Act 1968(3) (fees for certificate and exemption from paying it in certain cases)—

(a) in paragraph (a), for “£198” substitute “£204” ;

(b) in paragraph (b), for “£131” substitute “£135” ;

(c) in paragraph (c), for “£47” substitute “£48” ;

(d) in paragraph (d), for “£194” substitute “£200” ;

(e) in paragraph (e), for “£126” substitute “£130” .

Variation of fees for registration as a firearms dealer

3. In section 35 of the Firearms Act 1968(4) (fee for registration and renewal thereof)—

(a) in subsection (1), for “£466” substitute “£480” ;

(b) in subsection (1A), for “£30” substitute “£31” ;

(c) in subsection (3), for “£466” substitute “£480” .

Variation of fees for co-terminous certificates

4. In section 11(3) of the Firearms (Amendment) Act 1988(5) (grant of co-terminous certificates)—

(a) in paragraph (b), for “£71” substitute “£73” ;

(b) in paragraph (d), for “£24” substitute “£25” .

Variation of fees for visitors’ permits

5. In section 17(8) of the Firearms (Amendment) Act 1988(6) (visitors’ permits)—

(a) for “£47” substitute “£48” ;

(b) for “£233” substitute “£240” .
